This will be the Course structure 


### **Session 1: Introduction to Digital Devices and the Internet** 

Date: 21/10/2024


- **Objective:** Familiarize participants with basic digital devices and the internet.

- **Content:**

    - Overview of different types of devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops).

    - Basic functions: turning on/off, adjusting settings, connecting to Wi-Fi.

    - **Learn My Way Integration:** Start with the “Using you Device” and “Using a touchscreen device” modules. These modules introduce basic device navigation and settings.

    - Hands-on activity: Navigating a device and connecting to the internet using the skills learned.


### **Session 2: Browsing the Web and Finding Reliable Information**

Date: 28/10/2024


- **Objective:** Teach participants how to browse the internet safely and find reliable information.

- **Content:**

    - Introduction to web browsers and how to use them.

    - Understanding search engines and conducting effective searches.

    - Identifying reliable websites and avoiding misinformation.

    - **Learn My Way Integration:** Use the “Starting to use the internet” module to guide participants through browsing, searching, and understanding the internet basics.

    - Hands-on activity: Searching for specific information online and evaluating sources using the module’s exercises.


### **Session 3: Communicating Online (Email and Messaging)**

Date: 04/11/2024


- **Objective:** Enable participants to communicate with family, friends, and services online.

- **Content:**

    - Setting up and using email accounts (sending, receiving, and organizing emails).

    - Introduction to messaging apps (WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger).

    - Discussing video calling options (Skype, Zoom, FaceTime).

    - Online etiquette and safety tips for communication.

    - **Learn My Way Integration:** Utilise the “Using email & Staying in touch” module to teach participants how to set up and use email accounts effectively.

    - Hands-on activity: Sending an email or message and making a video call using the skills learned from the platform.


### **Session 4: Staying Safe Online**

Date: 11/11/2024


- **Objective:** Educate participants about online safety, privacy, and recognizing scams.

- **Content:**

    - Understanding online threats (phishing, scams, malware).

    - Recognizing suspicious emails, links, and websites.

    - Importance of strong, secure passwords and how to create them.

    - How to protect personal information online.

    - **Learn My Way Integration:** Incorporate the “Safety and security online” module, which covers protecting privacy, creating secure passwords, and recognizing online threats.

    - Hands-on activity: Identifying a phishing email and practicing safe password creation using the examples and tools provided in the module.


### **Session 5: Using Online Services and Resources**

Date: 18/11/2024


- **Objective:Help participants access essential online services and resources.

- **Content:**

    - Introduction to online shopping (e.g., grocery shopping, purchasing essentials).

    - Accessing healthcare services (e.g., NHS app, booking appointments online).

    - Using online banking safely (overview of online banking tools and security tips).

    - Exploring online resources for hobbies and interests (YouTube, online libraries).

    - **Learn My Way Integration:** Use the “Spending money online” and “Managing your health online” modules to guide participants through these essential online services.

    - Hands-on activity: Exploring and navigating a selected online service or resource using the platform’s guided lessons.
